Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) Dysfunction
Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) pain can feel like it impacts every part of your life, whether it is speaking, eating or clenching while working or sleeping. Mouth guards are only part of your treatment options and surgery is a last resort option. Physical therapy is very effective for TMJ pain if the entire patient is taken into account. This requires us to evaluate the "forest" AND the "trees". Big picture habits like posture and clenching need to be addressed but the real difference you'll see at Precision is the ability to identify and treat specific tight muscles in the mouth, fascial restrictions in your neck and movement abnormalities that are contributing to your pain.
